Innovative annealing technologiesfor wire rod and drawn wire
Hot-rolled and Stelmor-cooled wire rod are essential starting materials for a number of cold forming processes. The first heat treatment a coil of wire rod usually undergoes is a spheroidization anneal, where the as-cast hot-rolled microstructure is optimized for additional cold forming. The decisive factors for this process are the ability to precisely control the temperature and the composition of the atmosphere.

Solution anneals, partial anneals and more
In this interview, Markus Gangl, Senior Product Manager Aluminum, explains how EBNER Industrieofenbau uses state-of-the-art furnace technologies to accurately control these processes, which processes are used for which alloys and why the right combination of temperature control, atmosphere flow design and quenching technology makes the difference between run-of-the-mill and peak performance.

Intelligent process control in bell annealer furnace facilities
We recently interviewed Richard Speletz, Model Developer, who explained how physics-based models, digital twins and AI algorithms will revolutionize control systems and optimize bell annealer furnaces – providing everything from intelligent responses to process faults to precision temperature control.

Efficient homogenization with state-of-the-art technology
Aluminum is one of the most versatile metals of our time: its light weight and strength make it indispensable in sectors like the automotive, aerospace and packaging industries. However, before a cast rolling ingot can enter the rolling mill, the microstructure within it must be perfectly prepared. This is where homogenizing heat treatment comes in.
